Boise Just Raised the Bar for Bold Inclusivity. Here’s How We’re Joining Them.
Usually, we’re the ones making officials uncomfortable—planting disco-ball-topped Festivus poles in state capitols, challenging unconstitutional religious favoritism, and fighting tirelessly for First Amendment rights.
But sometimes, a city gets it so right, we just have to stand up and applaud. That city today is Boise, Idaho.
Recently, Boise’s City Council courageously defied Idaho’s restrictive flag legislation by officially adopting the Pride flag as a city banner. This bold move sparked cheers, controversy, and passionate debate (read the full story from the Idaho Statesman here). More importantly, it sent a powerful, nationwide message affirming Boise’s unwavering commitment to diversity, inclusion, and constitutional freedoms.
Boise’s Boldness Deserves More Than Praise
Inspired by this landmark decision, we immediately reached out to Boise’s city leaders—including Mayor Lauren McLean, Council President Colin Nash, and colleagues—to offer our support and propose an exciting, historic next step.
In a letter to Boise officials, we praised their bravery and invited them to officially adopt our Church of Satanology flag as the city’s fourth official banner.

Let’s clarify something important: despite its provocative name, the Church of Satanology isn’t about Satanism. We’re pure satirical performance art—passionate advocates for religious neutrality, constitutional integrity, and free expression. Our vibrant flag symbolizes solidarity with marginalized voices, aligning seamlessly with Boise’s inclusive vision.
Why Boise, Why Our Flag?
Simply put: Boise has shown extraordinary courage, the kind of inclusive leadership we’ve urged in cities nationwide. While other municipalities we’ve approached—including five cities in Connecticut—have hesitated, Boise boldly set a new high water mark.
Adopting our flag would further amplify Boise’s powerful stand, making it the first city in America to proudly fly our standard—not as a protest, but as a fearless celebration of diversity, religious neutrality, and free speech.
We understand this might seem ambitious. So, we’ve offered an alternative: a temporary ceremonial flag-raising event. This would provide Boise another opportunity to boldly showcase its commitment to constitutional principles and inspire communities everywhere.
Your Move, Boise
We’ve formally submitted our proposal to Boise’s City Council, including an eye-catching visual mockup of our distinctive flag. We invited city leaders to explore ways we can collaborate to further amplify their groundbreaking inclusivity.
To Boise officials: Your decision to stand with minority voices and uphold constitutional freedoms is not just commendable—it’s groundbreaking. Now, let’s build on your remarkable act of leadership and inspire even more change.
We’re ready if you are.
